Our Mission
Sunbelt Pest Guide exists for one reason: to give homeowners the information they need to make smart decisions about pest control — without the sales pressure.
We don't sell pest control services. We don't broker leads. We don't take commissions from exterminators. Instead, we provide thoroughly researched, locally-focused guides that help you understand what's bugging you (literally), what it costs to fix, and what you can do yourself.
Why the Sunbelt?
The Sunbelt region — stretching from the Southwest deserts through the humid Southeast — faces unique pest challenges that colder climates simply don't. Scorpions in Arizona, termites in South Carolina, mosquitoes along the Gulf — each city has its own pest profile shaped by local climate, geography, and building practices.
Generic pest control advice doesn't cut it here. That's why every guide on this site is tailored to a specific city, with local cost data, seasonal timelines, and region-specific prevention tips.
What We Cover
We currently cover five cities with plans to expand:
- Yuma, AZ — Hot desert climate with extreme summer heat
- Tulsa, OK — Humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters
- Greenville, SC — Humid subtropical climate with warm summers and mild winters
- Tucson, AZ — Semi-arid desert climate with hot summers and mild winters
- Kansas City, MO — Humid continental climate with hot summers and cold winters
Each city guide includes information on local pests, average treatment costs, seasonal patterns, and prevention strategies. We also publish in-depth articles on specific pest types and treatment methods.
Our Standards
- Research-Based: Our content is informed by entomological research, EPA guidelines, and industry data from the National Pest Management Association.
- Locally Accurate: Cost estimates and seasonal timelines reflect real conditions in each city, not national averages.
- Regularly Updated: We review and update our guides annually (and more frequently when conditions change).
- No Conflicts of Interest: We're supported by display advertising, not by pest control companies. Our advice is independent.
